Chamonix Welcomes one of Europe’s biggest snowparks

Chamonix is one of the great snow resorts and offers a huge varied ski area with some of the best off piste in the World.  Saying that, there is one thing the resort has famously lacked and that is a top quality freestyle terrain park.

That is all changing this season with the construction of a huge park at the end of the valley in Le Tour.

The planned park will be a monster at over a kilometer long and more than 100 metres wide and have several different lines that can accommodate a range of skiers and boarders from beginners to experienced pro’s who can hit the black runs that meet FIS competition standards. There will be a half pipe and a range of jumps, kickers and rails making this one of the premier freestyle terrain parks in Europe.

The park is set at 2000 metres so snow condition should be good and with a 4 man chairlift plus a drag lift queuing shouldn’t be a problem.

You can check out all the action from the ‘Cool Zone’ and relax in the chill out area while music is played through the state of the art sound system.

This is a great additional to the Chamonix region as is the brand new snowsports area down the road in Les Grand Montets, where you will now find two brand new boardercross tracks with jumps and banked turns. The technical advanced route is over 800 metres and  meets FIS competition standards but more novice skiers and borders can have fun on the shorter recreational track where the stopwatch and video facility makes it fun to challenge your friends.

Where to stay??..

We recommend staying in the Cristal apartments in Argentierre. Great value and spacious apartments seconds from the bars and restaurants in the village centre and a five minute walk for Le Grand Montet cable car so you can easily get up to the amazing powder fields and the new bordercross tracks. Jump on the bus which stops outside an you can get to Le Tour in a few minutes to try out the new snowpark.

7 night prices start at just £279pp including flights from the UK, transfers and accommodation at The Cristal.

Coaching clinics…

We can also arrange freeride and freestyle clinics for one day, or a course of mulitple days. why not experience the ultimate week with a 3 day All mountain off piste coaching course and tour, combined with two day freestyle clinic at the snowpark??
