Surfing in Itacare and Bahia, Brazil

Itacare has surfing for beginners and intermediate. It is located 60 km from Ilheus one of the main centres of Bahia northeast part of Brazil.

Itacare also has a river called Contas which is regarded as a local attraction where you can enjoy sunrises and sunsets. Palmtree lined beaches overlook beautiful warm blue ocean with coral reefs.

Itinerary and highlights

The surfing season starts in March.

Summer: December to March (small swells waves between 1mt to 1.5 mt.)
Autumn: March to June (waves between 1 and 2 mts)
Winter: June to September (waves between 1 and 3 mts) popular time for Brazilian surfers.
Spring: September to December

Engenhoca, Rosende and Tiririca are where the Brazilian circuit events are held i.e. super surf Brasileiro.
