"Had a really busy week since getting back from Oman but just wanted to let you know that we had a really fantastic holiday. We really enjoyed the Shangri La hotel. It was lots of fun with a great location - right on a lovely beach with kayaks too for guests to use which was a bonus . Exceptional hotel food, great service and a wonderful bar overlooking the ocean with lots of comfy seats for lounging. All the Omanis we met were really friendly and helpful. We were there during the big new year festival in their central park which was a fascinating mix of ancient traditions and ultra-modern technology. We had some wonderful dives, the sea is teeming with fish - totally unspoilt and we saw several turtles and zillions of morays. Visibility lower than Sharm but still ok because there is so much life. Interesting trip out to Arabia's Grand Canyon - Jebel Shams - which is amazing and we actually managed two lazy days just enjoying the fabulous hotel and the excellent Margaritas in the piano bar. everywhere.

For those who wish to discover Oman both in and out of the water, the Dive Center has a wide range of overland tours on offer.

You can quietly explore the city of Muscat, stopping off at Mutrah Souq and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, or embark on a more challenging tour of the country Wadi bashing, riding the dunes of the Wahiba Sands, climbing the 3000 meters of Jabal Shams or driving to the turtle beaches of Ras Al Hadd.

Diving in Oman is relatively new and so the dive sites untouched and uncrowded. Combine this with rich culture and friendly hospitality and you have a truy unforgettable diving experience.

The sea is abundant with 900 species of fish ranging from the little cleaner wrasse to the enormous whale shark. So varied is the fish population in the waters of Oman that new species are still being discovered and identified.

Water temperatures range from 22°C in winter to 30°C in summer, with a thermocline at around 15m to cool you off during the summer’s hotter months. Visibility can reach 30 meters, although at times the massive presence of plankton reduces it notably. However, even when visibility is low, the sheer abundance and variety of species in Muscat waters is enough to keep divers coming back.

Dive Resort - A unique, relaxed dedicated dive resort right on the beach just outside Muscat. Stay in traditional woodedn beach bungalows right on the sand.

Accommodation & Center Details

Dive Resort :

A unique dive resort with a dive centre, dive school,, traditional Omani style beach accommodations, seaside restaurant and friendly beach bar. All set in a stunning location. Just twenty minutes away from Muscats historical center, the dive Center is nestled inside one of the bays of Bandar Jussa.

The resort offers thirty individual Barasti bungalows dotted along its secluded and private beach amidst desert plants and flowers. Nestled next to the swimming pool, the Odyssey Restaurant overlooks the azure waters of Bandar Jussa. Sit on its shaded terrace and watch the divers come back from their morning dive. The resort’s Safety Stop Bar is located at the right end of the resort’s beach. Under tinted glass lanterns and a roof of Barasti, surrounded by deep red curtains, there are many cocktails and fresh juices on offer.
