Safaga/Abu Soma is perfectly suitable for all skill levels. In Safaga you will definitely enjoy windsurfing, no matter whether you are beginner, intermediate or expert.

The beginner lagoon is perfect for all novices, as the water is very flat and the wind considerably less strong than anywhere else at the spot. The beach section in front of the centre is located on a headland so that you can launch easily and directly from the centre. The varied spot offers ideal slalom, freeride and freestyle conditions.

The wind blows side-offshore from the left in the morning and then turns to sideshore around 11am. In the afternoon the steady wind normally blows sideshore. The stronger the wind blows, the longer it stays in the afternoon. The areas for windsurfing and kitesurfing tuition are separate from each other.

Soma Bay’s spectacular bay offers fantastic flat water conditions and pristine sandy beaches, coupled with perfect side shore winds that range from 4-8Bft all year round. On a typical day, Soma Bay guarantees you at least 2Bft more than the next nearest resort along the Red Sea coast! The wind is accelerated by the close proximity of the mountains to the sea. This also makes for one of the most beautiful spots for windsurfing in the whole of Egypt.

Shams Safaga - Shams is a 4star hotel directly on the beach at Safaga. It offers great value all inclusive, with a range of facilities and dining options. The windsurf centre is on site and this is where the main (and best) windsurf area is found.
